The Beis HaMikdash was called the place where Hashem chose to rest His Presence. But the deepest teaching is not that the Presence lived inside a building of stone — it is that a building was constructed so we could learn how a human being is constructed. The Temple was a diagram. The soul is the room.
V'asu li mikdash v'shachanti b'socham — Make Me a sanctuary and I will dwell within them. Not "within it." Within them. The sanctuary is the person.
This concept is not a halachic description of Temple architecture. It is a spiritual language, drawn from Torah, mussar, and chassidus, that gives shape to the inner work of becoming a whole human being.
